Wall Wraps, Start to Finish: Surfaces, Cost and What the Install Includes
Most businesses pay rent on walls they do nothing with. A lobby, a corridor, the back wall of a gym, the dead space behind a reception desk — that surface is already yours, and a wall wrap is usually the cheapest square-footage of branding you will ever buy.
This is the practical version: what the material is, where it sticks, what it costs, how long it lasts, and what actually happens on install day. We measure, design, print and install with our own team, so all of it comes from our own floor rather than a supplier's brochure.
What a wall wrap actually is
A wall wrap is large-format printed vinyl applied directly to a wall. It is not paint and it is not a poster: it is a single continuous graphic, printed to the exact dimensions of your wall, that follows the surface underneath it.
Two things people usually conflate:
- Custom wall wraps — your artwork, your photography, your brand. Anything you can supply as a file, or that our team designs with you.
- Wallpaper — a catalog pattern, chosen from a book. We install that too, and the installation discipline is the same.
We have printed photographic murals, marble and stone finishes, botanical wallpaper, full-colour gym graphics and straight brand walls. The material can imitate almost anything, which is why the answer to "can you do…?" is usually yes.
Which surfaces it works on
Painted walls, concrete, glass and more. Vinyl is more forgiving than people expect, but the surface does set expectations, so it is worth being honest about it:
- Smooth painted drywall — the ideal case. Nothing telegraphs through.
- Concrete and block — works, and the texture becomes part of the look. A heavy block pattern will read through the graphic; that is physics, not a defect.
- Glass — a different product decision: you can go opaque, frosted or perforated depending on how much light and privacy you want.
- Freshly painted walls — the one real trap. New paint needs to cure before anything adheres to it, so tell us when it was painted.
If you are unsure, send a photo of the wall. It takes us ten seconds to tell you whether it is a problem.
How it is priced
Wall wraps are priced by the square foot, and for us that price includes professional installation within 40 miles of our Miami shop. That is deliberate: installation is the part that varies most between vendors, and the part most likely to turn into a surprise line on an invoice.
Because it is a square-foot number, you can estimate a room before you commit to anything. There is a square-foot calculator on our services page — enter the wall's width and height and it prices it instantly. Treat it as a starting estimate; request a quote for a firm number.
For a larger job — a whole office, a chain of locations — financing is available for the entire project, not just part of it.
How long it lasts
The honest answer depends on the material and the light, but a properly installed wall wrap indoors is a multi-year investment, not a seasonal one. We use materials that resist fading, peeling and cracking, so the graphic keeps looking the way it did on day one rather than going pastel after the first summer.
Removability is a separate question, and it is worth deciding up front:
- Planning to change it with a campaign or a season? Say so, and we will spec accordingly.
- Is it a permanent feature wall? Different material, longer life.
- Leased space you will hand back? That changes the recommendation again.
The four steps, and where the time goes
- Measure. Send us the wall's dimensions — or we come out and take them ourselves, free within South Florida. This is the step we would rather do than have you guess: a wall that is 2 inches off is a reprint.
- Proof. You get a to-scale digital proof. Nothing goes on the press until you sign off, and production time starts from your approval, not from your order.
- Print. Printed in-house on our large-format equipment, with colour matched to your brand. Rush is available depending on the job — some can be ready next-day. See our full production times.
- Install. Our crew installs it on site. Painted walls, concrete, glass and more.
One thing worth planning around: production time and install date are two different clocks. Printing finishing on Thursday does not mean it is on the wall Thursday — the crew needs a scheduled slot and the room needs to be clear.
What makes an install go smoothly
- Clear the wall and about six feet in front of it. Furniture, shelving and cable runs all cost time on the day.
- Flag anything on the wall — outlets, switches, thermostats, vents. We can cut around them cleanly if we know they are there.
- Tell us about recent paint or repairs. See above; it is the single most common cause of a return visit.
- Send the highest-resolution artwork you have. A logo that looks fine on a business card can fall apart at 12 feet wide. If the file is not big enough, our design team can rebuild it.
Where wall wraps usually go
Offices, retail stores, restaurants and homes — and in practice, the rooms that get the most out of them are the ones people wait in or work out in. Reception areas, corridors, gyms and studios, private dining rooms, showroom walls, and any space that photographs well enough to end up on social media.
A wall rarely travels alone, either. Most of the spaces we finish also get dimensional signage or a lit logo at the entrance, and for a launch or an event it is usually part of a bigger activation.
